Historical Background of Polymeric Optic Fibers and Woven Fabrics Made of POFs

Abstract

Polimer optik fiberler (POF), ışığı yönlendiren mono-filamentlerdir ve öncelikle kısa mesafelerde veri iletiminin yanı sıra fiber optik sensörler ve aydınlatma amaçları için kullanılır. Bu fiberler polimerlerden oluşur. fiber üretimi cam fiberlere kıyasla ucuzdur ve ürünler cam optik fiberlere göre daha uzun ömürlüdür. Polimer optik fiberler, indeks profillerine göre basamak indeksli fiberler (SI-POF) ve kademeli indeks profilli fiberler (GI-POF) olarak sınıflandırılabilir. Başlangıçta sadece adım indeksli fiberler üretilmiştir. Potansiyel veri iletim hızlarında bir artışa duyulan ihtiyaç, GI-POF indeks profilinin yaratılmasıyla sonuçlanmıştır. Polimer optik fiber (POF) malzemeler kısa mesafelerde veri iletimi için uygundur ve tekstil yapıları ile entegre edilebilir. POF'lar tekstil yapılarında kullanıldığında kısa mesafeli veri aktarımı yeterli olduğundan, SI-POF, daha düşük üretim maliyeti ve gerekli veri aktarım mesafesi nedeniyle GI-POF'tan daha uygun bir seçenektir. Polimer-optik fiber (POF) malzemenin tekstil kumaşlarına dahil edilmesinin birincil amacı, ışık gibi medya iletimini kolaylaştırmaktır. Plastik optik fiberler, dokuma yoluyla bir kumaşa kolayca dahil edilebilir. Adım indeks profilinde POF üretiminin tarihsel bağlamı ve POF dokuma süreci literatürde kapsamlı bir şekilde incelenmiştir.
