Parallel Binding Process of Alternators with Arduino

Abstract

Inthis study, the conditions for parallel binding of the alternators used in thepower plants to grid were examined and the fulfillment of these conditions wascarried out with Arduino. The power plant drive system has been modeled asAsynchronous motor module with 3 phase power of 5 kW. In the alternator part,asynchronous machine was used at 13 kVA power. Voltage, frequency, phasesequence and phase difference magnitudes of alternator and grid are used asinput data of Arduino. Voltage, frequency, phase sequence and phase differencemagnitudes of alternator and network are used as input data of Arduino. Fourdifferent modules have been designed to be integrated into Arduino for everymagnitude. These modules evaluate the information from the grid and thealternator. Arduino brings the alternator and the grid in parallel via therelay at the output when appropriate conditions met. Modules designed for thetraining set, software embedded in Arduino allows practical parallel connectionwithout using different measuring instruments.
